The Burnsville Band Brings Soulful Blues and Rock Energy to the Southwest
— The Burnsville Band, led by guitarist and frontman Steve Burns, continues to make waves in the Southwest music scene with their electrifying blend of blues, rock, and soul. With a rich history rooted in Southern California and a thriving presence in Colorado, the band is keeping the blues alive—one powerhouse performance at a time.
Formed in 2006 in San Diego, CA, The Burnsville Band began as a tight-knit group of friends and seasoned musicians. After a year of intensive rehearsals, they made their public debut in 2007 at the renowned Belly-Up Tavern, placing second in the IBC International Blues Challenge. Their high-energy performance announced their arrival and set the stage for a string of successes.
The band quickly became a staple in San Diego’s top venues, earning a four-year residency at the House of Blues San Diego (2008–2012) and a San Diego Music Awards nomination in 2010 for Best Blues Album with their debut release, Give Me A Job. Their sound—raw, soulful, and deeply rooted in blues tradition—resonated with fans and critics alike.
In 2014, The Burnsville Band relocated to Colorado’s Vail Valley, where Steve Burns assembled a new lineup of top-tier local talent. Over the next seven years, the band built a loyal regional following, performing at venues and festivals across the state. Highlights include three consecutive appearances at the Beaver Creek Blues, Brews, and BBQ Festival, where they shared the stage with national acts such as Shari Puorto, Larkin Poe, Los Lobos, Davy Knowles, Shemekia Copeland, and Samantha Fish.
Today, The Burnsville Band continues to evolve, delivering a sound that’s rich with “meat-on-the-bones” blues, gritty rock, and soulful depth. With a renewed focus and fresh energy, they’re poised to bring their signature style to audiences across the Southwest and beyond once again.
